They look so beautiful in a bowl on the counter too, just inviting you to cook.

Mariana - You are such a love to say so many kind things. It's so much more exciting to shop and cook like this, isn't it? It makes it all into a bit of a treasure hunt. As for the tomatoes, I do peel them in the proper way if I absolutely have to but I grate them now if I'm in a rush or doing something a little rustic. I think I first read about prepping them like this in one of Claudia Roden's books, and if it's good enough for her it's most certainly good enough for me.Lickedspoonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10910664613805029106noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060008016421967331.post-14973802552033304092009-05-23T23:04:58.423+01:002009-05-23T23:04:58.423+01:00Oh my gosh you made me laugh Debora. When your book comes out, I will be sure to buy it!
As for the dish, I love your spontenanity in just seeing some good produce and working with it. So many people take "a list" shopping without giving any thought to what is seasonal or local. There is nothing better than spotting something fresh and appealing and going with it. How very Mediterranean of you? ED would be so proud.

Excellent tip with the tomato grating - I reluctantly confess to the 'skinning' of tomatoes. Such a picky society we've become. Thanks for the grounding with your lovely recipe and for the grinding of your not so lovely government.Through My Kitchen Windowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17300798774076098054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060008016421967331.post-87753107320102139832009-05-23T20:13:59.477+01:002009-05-23T20:13:59.477+01:00I love eggplant and usually just throw slices on t...I love eggplant and usually just throw slices on the grill--I will definitely try this, looks absolutely delicious!unconfidential cookhttp://www.unconfidentialcook.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060008016421967331.post-13855027068010800382009-05-23T07:10:45.412+01:002009-05-23T07:10:45.412+01:00Karen - You really made me laugh, as always.

On another matter, something to cheer you up - Love how you came to the title of your blog. I just read a book about the correspondence between James Beard and Helen Evans Brown ( a California food authority ). One of their sigh offs was "Love and kisses and a halo of truffles". That is the name of the book if you haven't read it yet.
